  • You can force staff to take holiday during furlough.
  • There are advance notice periods to adhere to.
  • You can include bank holidays.
  • Staff still accrue holiday during furlough thus it makes sense to use holiday to reduce costs later.
  • You can defer holidays until later if you prefer. Carrying forward holiday is by agreement with the employer and employee. I.e. Employer's decision.
  • The best advice is to review the government page (link above) in case it changes.

  • IF FORCING HOLIDAY, THE EMPLOYER MUST PAY THE FULL HOLIDAY RATE I.E. THEIR NORMAL PAY (NOT THE 80% REDUCED AMOUNT).
  • THE EMPLOYER CAN STILL RECLAIM 80% OF THE HOLIDAY ON THEIR FURLOUGH CLAIM.
